HOLY CONVOCATIONS

The word convocation in Hebrew means to call, summon, or proclaim. The Hebrew word Miqra’ means assembly or gathering, proclamation, sacred assembly. In the context of our holy word, Miqra’ specifically means a holy convocation, a solemn gathering set apart for worship, prayer, and observance of YAHWEH’s appointed times. The word Miqra’ is often used in relation to our HIGH HOLY DAYS, sabbaths and other sacred times. Examples are in Leviticus 23:2 and Leviticus 23:3. The use of Miqra’ or Holy Convocation points out the idea of being called out by YAHWEH for a holy purpose.
These Holy convocations are not merely social gatherings, but sacred assemblies where the NATION OF YAHWEH unites in worship, reflection and obedience to YAHWEH’s commandments. It highlights the intentional nature of YAHWEH’s relationship with HIS people, inviting us to come together as a set-apart community.
